So St. Patrick's Day celebrations were actually supposed to start on Saturday with the Hermosa parade that Cash's baseball team was invited to walk in, but due to daddy getting some bad juice Friday night and then puking all night long we weren't able to attend.....cuz mom had to work the snackbar shift at the field and Chip was too sick to take the kids to the parade. However, Cash did have his first game Saturday afternoon and so mom and Griff went to cheer him on as daddy and Ivy napped!
Unfortunately his coach forgot to bring his uniform to him so he was the only player not in the black tee and missing a hat ---- which actually made him pretty easy to spot! (besides he is the tallest, even tho he is on the younger end of this bunch!) He was SO excited and so cute about everything and just has the happiest attitude towards things. He isn't afraid of meeting new people or coaches and just went right up and jumped in! I was so proud of him! Also, he did hit 2 grand slams so we started the season off right! (ok so they don't keep track in t-ball and altho he actually missed the pitches from the coaches he got before using the tee he did hit the ball off the tee fine) There are no outs or anything in this league - just everyone bats and then they switch! Fun times:)
Chip's friend from work Matt showed up with his awesome camera and took these pictures for us! It was so nice of him and fun to talk to him. He had a daughter that played in the world series of softball for little kids. Awesome huh?! We talked cameras and lenses and stuff and it was fun to learn from him!
The only bad was that it was SOOOOOO HOT and I got a little burned from the game! And that his dad didn't get to see his first game, of which he was so sad. But next week will be great too!
The real St. Patrick's day began with NO plans of anything special happening, other than us all wearing green so as not to get pinched. After mom saw all the other fun things on instagram I decided we had better do something! I guess that is why all the spontaneously fun things we did made it even better!
We started with green milk for the cereal - of which the kids thought the leperchaun was awesome. Griff even wanted to eat his with milk so that was great!
Then we had a really fun (sarcastic) trip to the Dr. where we waited in the waiting room for an hour before getting to go back to the room! Luckily the kids entertained themselves quite well! Griff was really sweet and was taking Ivy's blood pressure and told her that he would hold her hand when she got her shots and not to be scared! (he is soooo sweet that way!)
Griff and Cash both had bad ear infections, Griff didn't have allergies but instead a horrible cold, and then Ivy had 2 shots! Phew! Lucky we made it out of there all happy (that was due to the lollipops!) Ivy was so brave for her shots. The nurse told me to sit her on my lap and then Griff and Cash both came over and held her hands. Then she watched herself get stuck and she just said "owie, owie" on the first one but no tears. Then on the second one she said "owie", but the nurse didn't get it out as fast and so she started to cry. Griff was quick to tell her it was ok and that she could have a sucker. I told her to say "i'm brave", to which she just kept repeating "i brave, i brave..." over and over as we walked out to get the sucker, but no more tears! She is SO tough!!!
Then when Cash went to school the leperchaun came and delivered a few fun things and turned the chairs upside down and a few other crazy things. So much fun! The simple things make kids so happy I love that!
Griff and I made a delicious banana cream layered dessert which was so yummy for dinner!
I asked the boys what they thought Irish eat for dinner and Griffin responded with "chic fil-e" so we decided we better eat that too! Yummy!
The best part of the whole day was actually when the kids discovered after dinner that the leperchaun had come and turned the toilet water green! They thought this was the COOLEST thing ever! Seriously so funny to listen to them run to each toilet in the house, giggling each time that they found all of them had this happen to them! Griffin then got mad that they got flushed and weren't green anymore. He wanted to leave them - lol!
But the real joke was on us - that when we tried to use their new bath bubble that were colored and make green, instead the blue and yellow together made this funny pink color --- hmmmm! Jokes on us we guess! It was a great day and the kids said over and over how much fun they had!
Ivy got some new clothes for the holiday and, in fact, they are green. So today she wore them to show support for the army, and to our Uncle Alex since he just got home from Survivor camp!!!! We sure are glad he survived and didn't even lose too much weight! Love you and grateful for those who serve our country! And Ivy is pretty cute in her little outfit!
Great days in this March Madness Month! (and yes I am doing my Book of Mormon reading in the month of March for my 4th time)!
