Friday's Friend!!!

So I am starting a new tradition: Every Friday I will be doing a post titled "Friday's Friend". I will be highlighting one of my friends, with little snippets of info on them! I have so many awesome friends with amazing talents and things that inspire me....so stay tuned for when your day might come!!!!

First Friday's Friend
Meet: Adria Macdonald

Age: 30 and lovin' it
Birthday: Sept. 30th

Adria and Rob

Favorite Thing to do: Look at decorator books and dream up a cheaper way to do it.

Favorite quote: Right now it's "There is no one perfect way to be a good mother... What matters is that a mother loves her children deeply and, in keeping with the devotion she has for God and her husband, prioritizes them above all else." Elder Russell M. Ballard

Something crazy others might not know: I'm a little too vanilla (normal), but I guess one "sprinkle" is my husband and I have slept in a cow barn in the Swiss Alps before. Watch out for the earwigs - ewww!

Guilty pleasure: Peanut Butter Cup Perfection ice cream at Cold Stone - soooo many WW points.

Thing I Admire Most About Adria: She never speaks bad about anyone.....rather she finds the good in everyone!

My Favorite Memory of Adria: I have many great memories of times spent with Adria, but to date my favorite memory was going over to her house to have her help me with my Cruella DeVill hat for Halloween. I got it in my head I could create my own, and she helped me (did ALL the work) to make it come out awesome. The hat was awesome, but it was the talking and getting advice and learning from her example that I most like to remember....I watched her sing and dance with her kids, clean her house, get everyone- including me- lunch, and all while helping me with my project. She is an amazing person with SO MANY TALENTS!

She has a great voice and an even greater heart: Adria is so willing to help anyone and everyone, and she is the interior decorator I could only dream of being. From helping me reupholster my lazy boy chair, to refinishing a dresser and making her own pillows, to teaching a class on how to make perfect cinnamon rolls, Adria is one awesome woman! I love her and her cute little family and feel blessed to have her as one of my bestest friends! She always makes you feel good about yourself when you talk to her, and she is so inspiring when it comes to taking on projects! She is beautiful and also is a great bargain shopper - thanks for the great jeans you found (someday I hope yo look as good as you in my pair!)

Thank you Adria for being my friend!!!

The lazy boy she helped me take from this, to...............

This!!! (every time I sit in it I think of you Adria)

The hat she helped me make- which completely made the costume - and all from just looking at it on a video!

Adria's Cinnamon Roll class - SO GOOD!!!

Everyone loved learning!

Trick: use a LOT of cinnamon and sugar!

Just seeing these makes my mouth water!

Mommy Gets a Break.....Yeah for Girls Nights Out

Since Cash was born, I have NOT had a single night off for a fun Girl's Night Out. Why you might ask? Well, partly because my husband is never available to stay home, partly because we don't live next to family and have the luxury of free babysitting all the time, and partly due to the fact that we moved right after Cash was born and it has taken me a long time to find a group of new girls to hang out with. However, it is a new year, and with that for me came new-found friends, and the invitation to join a bunch of girls in my ward to watch Bachelor and hang out on Monday nights! So last night was my first time going, and it was a blast! I was planning on taking Cash with me, but Chip brought some work home with him so I could leave Cash and he could put him to bed for me and let me have the break all on my own! Thank you hubby for a much needed break. It was fun to get to hang out and start to make friends up here, and was great to just be on my own without having to worry every minute about what Cash needed! I feel rejuvenated and ready to go back to being mommy again!

Also, it was like role reversal because when I came home both Cash and Chip were asleep, and I was the one who turned out the lights and got into bed last! This NEVER happens!

Back to Late Nights and No Sleep!!!

I decided at 10 p.m. last Monday to head down to NC for the week while Chip was gone to San Francisco for a few days on business. My plans originally were to go up to DC, but after they fell through, and I talked to my good friend Jen she quickly convinced me the best idea was to come there! I am so glad I did as it was one of the most fun weeks I have had in a long time! Every day was packed with fun things, with even later nights, and not much sleep, but it was SO FUN!!! Thank you Holls for always letting us stay at your house and being such great friends! We always have a blast with you! Chip was able to fly down Friday night and so we got to stay the whole weekend and just got home yesterday - feels like we almost still live there sometimes!!! Here is a list of what the week consisted of (since I don't have pictures cuz my camera battery died)!!!

Tuesday: Kick off to American Idol

Wednesday: Hip Hop dance class with YW taught by Jen (So fun - video to come soon)

Thursday: Hot Chocolate and Games at Enrichment - great girls night!!!

Friday: Bride Wars movie, husbands fly in, The Office, and late night chat til past 1 am

Saturday: Basketball game at the church, dinner and Salsa dancing to celebrate the big 30 for Iris

Sunday: Cafe Rio food with friends, Cardinals winning and getting place in Superbowl (yeah), delicious brownie sundaes, and very fun LATE LATE night card game with the crew!!!

Monday: Shopping at Concord Mills at Banana Outlet, 5 guys, and return home

Every night it was after 1 a.m. before we got to bed, but it was a total blast! Can't wait until our next trip! That is, unless any of you want to come up and visit us!!!

Cash's New Toy

Cash LOVES this exersaucer, and his mommy loves it even more because it entertains him for long periods of time that used to be spent just standing on my lap holding him. He loves to be up and a part of all the action (not sure who he gets that from?) and this is great for that. He is growing up and getting big way too fast, and it is so much fun watching him figure out things in life, even if they are simple. He has taught me lately how much joy simple things can bring us in our daily lives!

Prayers For Adella

Meet Adella:
Born: December 5 2008
Weight: 7 lbs. 14 oz.

This is my very precious and beautiful niece Adella, who we got to meet over Christmas for the very first time. She is so cute and sweet and absolutely beautiful! We got to see her sealed to her parents on December 27, 2008 in the Mesa Temple, and it was such a sweet experience. I have never been to a sealing with children before, and the spirit was so strong and the tender emotion I felt when they brought in the tiny little baby in her beautiful white dress was overwhelming. I am so happy they are now an eternal family and for the chance we all have to be sealed as families and live together forever.

Now today, at just over 1 month old, she was diagnosed with a very high fever and will be in the ER for the next 2 days doing tests to see what is causing it! Our prayers are with her and her parents! We hope everything turns out good and that you can return home soon healthy!
We love you little Adella!!!

A forever family....taken at the temple after the sealing!

A SAD DAY

Dr. appointments are always a happy/sad experience for me. I love seeing little Cash's growth, but I can hardly bear to watch him go through the pain of 4 shots. Today was especially hard since he bled so much. However, we survived.

My little guy is now 15.9 lbs. and 26.9 inches long.
He is a tall, skinny boy and we love him to death!

With his bandaids (he looks chubbier in the picture than he really is)

What SNOW really means!!!

On the East Coast a small flurry means people stay home from work, school is canceled or starts later in the day, and NO ONE goes anywhere for fear of ice on the roads.......

In Utah it means it is cold and crummy driving conditions, but everything still carries on!!!

Here's to being trapped inside due to "weather conditions" in a place where there is not a drop of snow on the ground, while my family is going about their normal business in these conditions!!!

Like Uncle Like Son

Usually the saying goes "like father like son".....but I feel the title above is appropriate for Christmas morning when Cash's 4 uncles received hats like the one he is wearing in the picture above. They even tried to immitate him by taking their shirts off and posing the way he did for the camera....who do you think did the best Cash face?

Cash would have loved to be in that Christmas photo with 4 of his favorite uncles! We love you "homeees"!!!
