March Utah Visit for BYU Ballroom Championships!!!

For the past 8 years I have travelled home to Utah for the BYU National Ballroom Dance Championships in March! (except when we were in China)  I have loved watching my sister become the amazing dancer she is today, being involved in the costumes, watching and cheering her on, and getting time to visit family!  This year I went and just took Ivy Jane - so we flew and had a girls weekend and it was a BLAST!!! We LOVED every second we were there - despite she got a bad cold the day before and was sick the majority of the time there!  She sure loves her uncles - and they were sooo funny when they came home the first night and she was asleep and they kept bugging me to wake her up, or at least let them peek in at her.  She is loved by so many and they really are great uncles to her - one lucky girl!!!

At the airport before our flight!

Hanging out playing with Grammy's toys - so many fun new ones - and no one to take them from her!

Everything's ok when Grandpa holds your hand!

As usual the ballroom championships were fantastic - and this year Kimmy won 1st place - she is the National Smooth Champion ---- she looked absolutely stunning and danced AMAZING and we were so proud of her - first in ALL dances.  I am not sure who was more nervous at the awards part - her fiance, Houston, my mom, or me!  But it was a great night and set the tone for the weekend!  She was sponsored by Doree and so was sent 2 dresses to wear - the white one she wore in the final, and the pink she wore the first couple rounds - both were soooooo gorgeous!

So proud of her! (not a good pic for me!)

With her partner Brandon Perry and her coach Micheal!

It was Houston's dad's first time coming to anything like this and he was blown away at how awesome it was!!!  Super nice of their family to support her so much!

 So much fun to win!

 Great time!

The amazing dresses - and she made them look even better!

For Latin her partner's mom literally was still finishing up this dress 10 minutes before she danced - amazingly talented seamstress - and we called it the barbie dress!!!

Ivy and Uncle Sam after church - she was REALLY tired here!!!

She had had enough at this point!

It was so much fun being there -but I definitely missed my kiddos and so was happy to see them first thing monday morning.  I got back and it was a very busy week!  We did take time though one morning after dropping Cash off at school to walk down with the kiddos to the beach (yes I DID make it back up the hill to my house although I made Griffin get out of the stroller to do so).  It was a very overcast day and we could barely see the ocean, but they had a great time!

So overcast we couldn't see the houses once we were on the pier - and barely could see the guys out paddling!

 Happy kiddos!

I also decided to try my hand at fondant and did up this cake - it was a TON of work, but I was really happy with how it came out - wanted to see if i could actually make a wedding cake.  I served it in RS as part of my lesson and it was a huge hit - the cake tasted ABSOLUTELY delicious - so better than a lot of wedding cakes I have tried!!!

I tried an ombre cake too with these pink roses and it was even yummier - gotta say I love buttercream frosting - and it was SOOOOO easy and fast too!

Have a great day - more pics to come soon!!!
